Giant statue of Yan Mo, who is also known as Yan Wang (fig.), at Fengdu Ghost City. The king of death is here portrayed with a golden complexion, and a pointed black beard, and holding an imperial jade tablet. Above his throne are traditional Chinese characters that read (from right to left): yao ling gong (曜靈宫), which translates as the ‘Glorious Palace of the Departed Souls’.
