  Chinese wealth god with mongoose

In Tibetan Buddhism, mongooses are often described as creators of wealth. As such, they are sometimes found as the attribute of certain wealth gods. The informal Chinese wealth god Liu Hai (fig.) shown here is depicted with a mongoose at his side, whilst holding a Chinese gold ingot (fig.) and stringed fang kong qian coins (fig.).
