Thailand

Ban Hun Lek is an art factory with an adjacent museum in Angthong, where steel figures made with pieces from old engines, using parts of decommissioned and/or broken machines and vehicles, are —besides being produced— also put on display.

The project is the creative idea of founder Phairoht Thanomwong (fig.), who transforms these discarded parts into art and imitations of robot-like figures, both in human and animal-like form, as well as into vehicles, especially rather futuristic-looking cars and motorbikes.

The sculptures and other items are produced in various sizes, generally from 2 to 4 meters, but some are as tall as 6 meters, though the artist initially started by making small figures that were sold in shops and on markets.
