The in 2019 inaugurated MRT metro (fig.) stations along the Bangkok Metro Blue Line extension are made in distinctive Thai architectural style and are designed with local themes.

The Sanam Chai station, near the southern end of the Old City Moat (fig.), features traditional Thai columns with cornices according to ancient design (fig.), with ancient decorative patterns, such as kranok motifs (fig.).

This feature is also incorporated in some of the trains on this route, of which the ceilings are red with traditional patterns in gold, similar to those used in Thai temple design (fig.), while the walls have the Thai-style columns.
