  Chulachomklao Bridge

Thailand

The 200 meter long Chulachomklao Bridge across the Tapih River (fig.) in Surat Thani consists of a single rail track flanked by a road. It is a steel through-truss bridge that was originally built in 1916, yet was severely damaged in World War II when it was bombed by Allied troops. Repairs to this three-span bridge started in 1952 and were concluded in 1953. Located just 1.3 km from Phunphin Railway Station, it is a helpful indication to Surat Thani's inbound travelers arriving from the north to get ready to disembark as the train is nearing its destination.
