   Coral Cave

Thailand

Coral Cave is a small cave along a hidden cove of the Chiaw Lan Reservoir (fig.) in Khao Sok National Park (fig.), in Surat Thani. It can only be reached by boat followed by a short hike and a transfer by bamboo raft.

The cave, in Thai known as Tham Pa-kahrang, gets its name from the many stalagmites and stalactites that are reminiscent of certain types of coral (fig.).

One of the stalagmite formations resembles a White Elephant (fig.), an auspicious animal and an ancient symbol of Thailand (fig.).
