  Southern Forest Crested Lizard

A Southern Forest Crested Lizard, also known as Emma Gray's Forest Lizard and with the scientific name Calotes emma emma, spotted near Khao Sok National Park in Surat Thani, in southern Thailand.

 

It is one of two subspecies of Forest Crested Lizard, an agamid lizard with the Latin name Calotes emma. In Thai, this subspecies is known  as king kah kaew tai, i.e. ‘southern crystal lizard’.

It  is soft greenish and grey, with dark bars, and like the Northern Forest Crested Lizard (fig.), it has a spike above each eye and two spikes above the tympanum, but larger ones than those of its northern counterpart.
