  Greater Flamingo (juveniles)

PREVIOUS BIRD NEXT BIRD Thailand

The young of Greater Flamingoes are mostly brownish-grey, with dark streaks on the scapulars and coverts, and lighter underparts.

Their necks are shorter than those of adults and their bills are pale greyish, also with a restricted blackish tip, while the legs and feet are dark brownish-grey. The juvenile in the picture above is already changing its plumage into that of a young adult, and the baby bird in both photos is also overall greyish, but still too young to have the plumage as described for juveniles.
