  Ho Chi Minh Stilt House

Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh's traditional Vietnamese timber stilt house is located at the back of the luxurious Presidential Palace (fig.) in the capital Hanoi, where he purportedly refused to live.

This historical site, erected in a lovely garden adjacent a carp-filled pond, and opposite of the former leader's residence, is a modest place, where Ho Chi Minh (fig.) spent the ten last years of his life. Today, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (fig.) and the Ho Chi Minh Museum (fig.) are in close proximity.

He lived and worked here from 1958 to 1969, and from here ruled wartime North Vietnam, prior to his death in 1969. The place has been preserved just as Uncle Ho left it.
