  Lawkataraphu Phaya Kyee

Myanmar

Lawkataraphu Phaya Kyee, i.e. ‘Great Pagoda of the Crown of the World’, in Ava, i.e. Inwa. The main pagoda of which the top part is gilded, is topped with a hti (fig.), i.e. an ornamental part in the form of a lacy umbrella, as well as a nga myat na, i.e. a flag-shaped ornament called the vane (fig.), while in the centre, all around the stupa, are depictions of demon-like figures called balu pan gai (fig.).

Though the main stupa was renovated in 2017, other parts, such as the stupa-like towers at the corners of this temple's  surrounding wall, as well as these redundant pillars, are here still overgrown with weeds and shrubs.

This gives the impression that this temple is seemingly located somewhere deep in the jungle...
