The confluence of the Ruak and Mae Khong rivers at the Golden Triangle in Sop Ruak. Here the Mae Khong river forms the natural border between Thailand and Laos and a bit further upstream, between Laos and Burma. The Ruak river (on the left) is named after a species of small bamboo and forms the natural border line between Burma and Thailand. The side from which the picture is taken is in Thailand, the spit of land is Burma and the land on the right, opposite the main (Mae Khong) river, is Laos.
