Nataraja, the Hindu god Shiva as ‘Lord of Dance’, a representation of cosmic truth and energy. His cosmic dance symbolizes creation, preservation and destruction at the same time, whilst he stands with one foot on the demon-midget Apasmara, who represents ignorance. Thus, by subduing him, he allows the birth of knowledge.
