 Subject:

A communications satellite in space with to its left Earth and to its right the green silhouette of a human face, with one eye shaped as a satellite dish. Light beams between the communications satellite, the globe and the satellite dish-shaped human eye, represent transmission signals, while the satellite dish-eye is also connected to various kinds of communications equipment in yellow, i.e. a postal envelope, a fax machine, a computer, and a mobile phone. From behind the human face emerge several broad, blue, horizontal lines, each headed by the silhouette of a different object related to communication or transportation. Printed in white over the globe is the logo of the National Communications Day, i.e. a messenger pigeon stylized as a post horn with wings. The picture won the first prize at the drawing competition for the 1993 National Communications Day postage stamp, entitled Communications in the Next Decade and illustrates the development and evolution of communications from the past and present to the next ten years, based upon the ideas, brain power and farseeing ability of humans.
