The Nine Queens' Pagodas in Inwa consist of a row of identical 16-17 meter tall stupas in a style atypical for Ava. Instead, they have been built in a style rather reminiscent to that of those found in the ancient Rakhine capital Mrauk, i.e. with multiple levels and ridges.

They were built by nine queens of King Maha Dhamma Razadhippadi (r. 1733-1751 AD) as associate pagodas to the larger Lawka Tharapu Pagoda and each of them  bears the name of the donor queen. Originally, their flat tops were crowned with either a nine or seven-tiered chattra, yet today only six of the nine pagodas remain.
