The escutcheon of 
			Phetchaburi shows parcels of farmland with palm trees and in the 
background a hill with a building. The fields point to the natural richness of 
the region that mainly consists of the cultivation of rice. The palm 
trees are  
sugar palms that are abundant in this province. The hill is 
the 92 meter high Khao Samon or Khao Wang (fig.) on which king
			
			
			Rama IV (Phra Chom Klao) ordered
the construction of a complex of buildings, including the 
chedi
Phrathat 
Chom Petch (Jom Pet) that overarches the 
old chedi. On the top of the hill, are a large  
prang, a royal hall and the Phra Nakhon Khiri palace (fig.).
