During Tet Festival, i.e. the Vietnamese New 
Year, local shops decorate their entrances, and 
people put up yellow flowers in and 
in front of their homes (fig.), 
preferably yellow apricot blossoms, which represent 
riches, wealth, and affluence, and are deemed auspicious, while 
others, especially in northern 
    
				Vietnam, 
many also erect
kumquat (fig.) 
trees. At night, 
landmark sites in the cities are lit up with colourful lights, as in the bottom 
picture of the Ben Thanh Market in Saigon. |
