  Thai Army lot

Kong keun is the Thai term for registered men of pre-military age who have been listed for military service in the Royal Thai Armed Forces but are not yet officially called up.

 

At the age of twenty every Thai boy is summoned to come and draw a lot of which the colour determines if one is conscripted or let off: if the colour is red, one is drafted; if black, one is exempt. This photo shows the result notification for someone who drew black and got exempt.
