Wat Thaton, a Buddhist hilltop temple in the sleepy town of Thaton, located along the Kok River and with a terrace that offers some panoramic views over the area (fig.).

Whereas the main building consists of a pagoda, the temple's courtyard as well as the pagoda's interior (fig.), feature several edifices and objects of interest, related to both Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism.

Besides this there as also statues related to mythology, as well as to history, such as these statues of King Naresuan and King Taksin, two royal warlords that liberated Thailand from Burmese occupation, here housed in an edifice topped with a Phra Malah Biang (fig.).

At the back of the courtyard are some statues of Kuan Yin and two giant Chinese dragons, one in gold and one in silver, akin to the silver and golden trees called ton mai ngeun ton mai thong (fig.).
