Yi Peng decorations, consisting of krathong (fig.) and Lan Na style kohm kwaen lanterns (fig.) at Suan Dok Gate, which is situated at the centre of the western city moat of Chiang Mai. This annual festival, held on the full moon of Yi Peng, i.e. the second lunar month according to the northern Thai calendar and the twelfth lunar month of a regular calendar year, is elsewhere in Thailand known as Loi Krathong. The text in front of the decorations reads: Praphenih Deuan Yi Peng Chiang Mai (ประเพณีเดือนยี่เป็งเชียงใหม่), i.e. ‘Yi Peng Moon Festival Chiang Mai’.
