Cambodia

There are two types of bats, i.e. Megabats and Microbats. The ones seen here are fruit-eating Lyle's Flying Foxes (Pteropus lylei), that are related to vampire bats (Pteropus vampyrus), the largest among the Megabats and a species commonly known as the Large Flying Fox.

In Thai, bats are called kahng kahw. Literally kahng means ‘to be left dangling’ or ‘perching’ and kahw means ‘to stench’ or ‘to stink’, as their habitats tend to have the distinctive stench of bat droppings.
