  indigo dyeing

Vietnam

In Sapa, in northern Vietnam, the hill tribe people soak a small local plant (fig.) in water in order to obtain the indigo colour traditionally used to dye their cloths.

The more the process is repeated, the darker the dyed material will become, varying from blue to dark blue and even near black.
