NATURE & GASTRONOMY

  Kapok Tree

Thailand

A full-grown Kapok Tree produces several hundred seed pods at a time, which can be used as a food or for its cotton-like fibre.

Eventually, the green seed pods will slowly turn brown as they ripen and dry up (fig.), changing their flesh for fluff.
