In sericulture, silk pupae are either placed in a krajo (fig.), or on a brush-like arrangement of sticks -as seen here- hanging from the ceiling, in order to breed silkworm cocoons.

 

In China, this elongated, brush-like breeding device is known as cao long, literally a ‘straw dragon’ (fig.).
