  Ava Royal Ritual Pond

Myanmar

Ava's Royal Ritual Pond, also known as Princess Lake, in contemporary Inwa is comparable to the Thai sra (fig.), the Khmer baray (fig.) and the Indian baoli or ghat (fig.).

The ancient palace pool was used for bathing, as well as for particular purification rituals. It has a low wall with a royal mango staircase (fig.), as well as encircling steps that descends into the water.
