  Lakshmi

Thailand

Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty and fortune, and consort to Vishnu, is seated on a lotus flower in a niche on a rooftop of the Indian temple Wat Sri Maha Mari Amman in Bangkok. She is usually depicted seated on a lotus, because she floated to the surface on one during the shaking of the Ocean of Milk. She is also known as Padma, Sanskrit for lotus flower.
