Phra Mahesuan is 
						a Buddhist 
						
		      																									
						amulet 
						from 
						
			      																								
			      Wat Phra Sri Rattanamahathat in 
			      																								
			      Suphanburi, and dates back to the 
			      																								
			      U-Thong Dynasty, i.e. the beginning of the 
																												 Ayutthaya Period. It 
						is cast in iron and depicts a 
						
		      																									
						Buddha image
						seated in the 
		      
		      																									
		      half lotus position 
						on the 
						
	      naga, 
						a position known as 
			      
			      		
			      pahng nahg prok, while performing the 
						maravijaya mudra, i.e. the pose in which the Buddha's right hand touches the earth 
						(fig.).
