  U Bein's sunken pagoda

Myanmar

The sunken pagoda at the U Bein Bridge in Amarapura (fig.). During the monsoon season this temple is for the most part either flooded or submerged by the water of the Taungthaman Lake.

In this period, especially at crack of dawn and at sunset, it becomes a photogenic attraction in its own right, when its silhouette mirrors in the water.
