			Thai. Name of a Buddhist temple 
			in 
			
		      Chiang Mai, 
			which was founded in 1497 AD by 
			Phaya 
			Meuang Kaew, a 
			
			
	Lan Na king 
			who 
			reigned from 
			1495 to 1526 AD, though 
			most of the temple 
			buildings date to later periods, such as the 1819 built 
			
			
			
			teak 
			ordination hall with 
			
			waen fah glass inlay. The compound also houses a 
			Burmese-style chedi, said to have been rebuilt in 1958. The temple's 
			main prayer hall has 
						a handrail in the shape of a multi 
			headed 
						 
     naga 
						(fig.), 
			as well as   
    
						makara 
			 
						(fig.) 
			at the entrances. It houses three principal 
		      
		      			
              Buddha images, 
			two of which are in the 
	
	marapajon pose 
			with a 
			
			
			bhumisparsa
			
			
			mudra (fig.). 
			One, a 
						replica  of 
			the 
			
			
			Phra Phutta Sihing 
			Buddha statue (fig.) 
			is seated in the
			
			
			lotus position 
			(fig.), 
			whilst the other two are seated in the 
			
			half 
			lotus position (fig.),
						one of which is a replica of the 
			
	            
	            
              Emerald Buddha
			in summer attire 
			(fig.) 
			seated in the 
			
	meditation 
			pose while performing a 
			
			
			pahng samahti
			
			
			mudra
			(fig.).
